You should not expect it to look like the movie set - which was not a real maze. They held a contest and chose an exquisite design which is in keeping with the style of the hotel and grounds. People on here seem to get bent out of shape that the maze does not echo the movie - but one should recall — this is where Stephen King stayed and experienced the incidents and spiritual events that inspired the book. Kubrick’s movie did not reflect the book. Stephen King’s epic miniseries was filmed here and the true flavor of the author’s inspirations are in every corner. If you’re truly a fan, you will appreciate the grandeur and historic aspects, as well as the eerie spiritual, ghostly aspects and fascinating past. I worked here and the fanciful and creepy things happen consistently.
